This argument really solidified why it’s important to argue against a distinction between “date-rape” and “rape-rape.” The distinctions in each and every instance of rape can come out in the details, but it’s all rape, and it all the same issue, the same event, and the same fucked up mindset.

Racism is racism. Whether it’s people asking you “where are you from” or the fact that different ethnicities in America find themselves having to present themselves somewhere in a triangle between Indigenous, Black, and White because that’s all a lot of white people are really capable of grasping. It’s a longstanding history of, what you call in a later post, “racial accidents.” It’s white people preferring the company of white people, and since they currently hold the “gateways to success” if I can make up term, whether they mean to or not, choose the white person over the person of color. You’re telling me that the fact that I tense up when I’m passing a dark skinned black man in baggy clothes on the street isn’t racism? That’s it’s a “racial accident?” This is all racism. And not calling it that, as robot-heart pointed out, is diminishing the term.

I love the colour palette on this sunset-inspired (at least in my mind) shoe from Vans. It’s available now through Atlanta’s Wish or your local Vans Vault dealer for around $60.

As usual, I’m a huge fan of the mix of materials, especially the integration of ripstop, a material I’m more accustomed to seeing on jackets.

I have this version, I guess I got it in the fraction of time that it was available in the iTMS. It’s impressive to say the least. I was sort of stoked that they had had seemingly taken out the leaderboard/points system, but that’s not actually the case. It just doesn’t display the number of points that you’ve racked up with each check in, but if you go to your tab at the end, it’s actually up in the righthand corner.

I really like the pull down to refresh/venue icons on the places screen.

It took me a really long time to read Sammy’s Craigslist posts because there are so few real words. Santa Cruz Introduces The ‘Land Shark’ Cruzer

The last thing I need is another crusing deck, especially considering how little I went out last year. But spring has sprung in Edmonton, and it looks like winter is on its way out for good (fingers crossed, obvs).

I love the shape of the little deck, as they riff on the classic surfboard shape. And I also dig novelty features — this deck has a beer bottle opener on the the botton, just below the front set of trucks.

Even though it’s technically a longboard, it’s specs are anything but, this diminutive mode of transport is shorter than the average park deck at 8.8 x 27.5 inches.

It comes equipped with Santa Cruz Road Rider 65 mm wheels down below, and clear, spray-on grip up top.

Available now, because summer’s just around the corner, I swear.

I always find myself lusting over the burliest of cardigans as we head into the summer months. Not that its ever stopped me from wearing inappropriately heavy sweaters in the dead of summer. I lived in this heavy cable knit WeSC cardigan a few summers ago.

I would tuck it under my arm at the bus stop, and put it on as I entered the climate-controlled warehouse.

but my cleaning lady broke a bottle of on of my perfumes on Friday and just peaced out without saying anything/leaving a note.

I kind of noticed something was off when I came home, because my bathroom smelled like my perfume, when I got home, and while the scent tends to linger, it’s not magic, and it dissipates within an hour or two. I figured she was curious and spritz it or whatever, creepy and weird, but not a crime.

I could have sworn the bottle looked a little more empty, but she also moved it so I couldn’t be certain. When I went to put some on on Saturday, the lid was off-kilter, but I thought nothing of it, until I removed it and noticed the atomizer part was detached effectively turning the bottle into an inexpensive paperweight.

It’s a cheap Gap scent from last summer that I’m pretty sure was a one off, but I got it on sale, so it’s not a huge loss. I just like to layer it with my everyday scent to give it a bit of depth. It probably cost me under $30, but it’s the principle of the matter.

She was even still puttering around when I got home that evening, so she did have a chance to bring it up, and just flat out opted not to.

A lie of omission is still a lie people, no matter how inconsequential.

Like shoes, you can never have too many blazers. I’ve been kicking myself for passing on a perfect seersucker one from Club Monaco last Spring, because I have yet to find one that compares.

While the one on the far left isn’t even seersucker, it is still a classic blazer motif, and the second their nautically-themed missive hit my inbox, I started planning my next trip to Club.

I should really be looking for a black tuxedo-type jacket to go with this dress I have, but that can wait since it’s not exactly leg bearing season just yet.
