It's the little things, really...
You know how no one really eats the crusts of a loaf of bread? I sure don’t. And just today, 2 days before my 26th birthday, I’ve realized that instead of lifting up the crust piece to get to proper slices everytime I go to eat bread, I could simply just throw away the crust when I open a new loaf. Never considered than an option before. Changes everything.
True, but I’ve always just kept it around to preserve the freshness of the slice underneath. I love bread but sometimes it takes me forever to get through a loaf because I’m too lazy to bring my lunches to work and prefer to agonize for hours over what to order in for lunch every day.
Also the heels have their uses, namely my ghetto croutons or target practice.

I always think of the crust as a ‘slice-saver’ keeps the next slice down from going stale to quickly.

I remember having this epiphany. It makes you feel very intelligent. Until you realise how obvious it is.

I’ve always kept the front crust because I figure it offers some protection to the slice sitting behind it
