Maybe it’s just me …
Because abortion is such a subjective topic it’s really hard for the open-minded to speak objectively.… but the whole Yale abortion art thing? Not offended.
Even if it were the real deal instead of performance art, I’m not sure it warrants moral outrage from anyone who’s not pro-life. People do tons of unhealthy things to their bodies in the name of athletics or religion or politics. Art shouldn’t be any different. And as far as trivializing childbirth/pregnancy/miscarriages go, well, carrying a child means different things to different people. If someone wants to induce miscarriage after miscarriage, who am I to judge them for how they choose to use their bodies? I have no right to tell them their pregnancy means everything nor do I have any right to tell them their pregnancy is completely insignificant. It’s not my uterus.
(I am seriously the only person I know who is not completely freaked out by this. Is there a silent minority or am I totally insane?)
