The monthly email newsletter from my mom - parsed
Good Morning Nicoel, (I would say so, you sent me this email at 5 am my time)
An update on [my aunt]: She’ll be having a lumpectomy for her bc (um, do you have to abbreviate breast cancer?) on April 11th.
It’s day surgery. Once the pathology report comes back the oncologist will outline the proper treatment.
I’ve just finished my placement at the Veteran’s Health Centre (she’s semi-retired, and as per the mandate in my family that means you have to find some organization to unload all of your free time on). If I learned nothing else there, it’s the importance of having Power of Attorney set up — both in regards to personal care and finances. In the states they call it a Living Will (I don’t live in the states anymore, thanks for keeping up to date).
I was on two units, both of which were for people with dementia and Alzheimer’s. I’d sure want my wishes to be known for the period between becoming “ga ga” and actually dying.
Did I tell you I’m going on a cruise with [my step-father] in three weeks? Well I am, and I’m excited. (from dementia to pleasure crafts in 60 sec.)
What’s up with you in Edmonton? tell me your news! (try not to sound so desperate)
I hope all is going well.
Love: MOM (because if she didn’t sign off this way every time, I would have no clue who was sending me these random missives)
