Greatness

rosa—sparks:

And last I checked, don’t we measure greatest in totality?

George W. Bush is a funny and charming individual, but he was an awful president.

Richard Nixon started the EPA but Watergate.

Sarah Palin is a great athlete but is not so good with almost anything else.

Feministing is a good forum except for when they refuse to acknowledge Women of Color issues.

Joe Paterno was a good coach but refused to act when his assistant coach raped young boys for over 20 years.

So….You don’t get free pass for showing up. Don’t we all measure our lives based on the entire expanse of it and not just the highlights? Hopefully when someone writes our obituary or makes our highlight reel, the good outweighs the bad, but that isn’t always the case. And yes, you get an asterisk by your name. And sure, it sucks, but no one is exempt.

About

I enjoy rich text evernote checklists, hefeweizen, the colour purple (the actual colour, and not the movie or book), debbie downerism, change purses, and stopping to get coffee even though I'm already mad late for work.
