La Roux - “Bulletproof” (via acc)
I am so into this song, it’s been in my head all day. Best part of getting into songs late? Like Bat For Lashes’ “Daniel,” there are already a ton of mixes out to get excited about.
Intant La Roux reblog. <3
The rest of the album kind of disappointed me, but I still can’t stop listening to this song.
I sort of felt that way the first couple of times I heard the album because I had seriously listened to the four leaked tracks hundreds of times and I was totally used to their pacing and whatnot and expected them the be representative of the album as a whole, but they’re far from it.
The only song off the album that I truly hate, and will never learn to love is “Cover My Eyes”. I cringe every time I hear it, and I’m seriously considering unchecking it, something I’m loath to do because I hate not having the whole album on my iPod.
That being said, I can’t gush enough about “Bulletproof” (a late favourite), “Fascination” (my previous fave La Roux jam), “Colourless Colour”, “As If By Magic”, and “Growing Pains” (which I think sort of sounds like Micachu & The Shapes interspersed with a bit of Lily Allen).
I would say I was more disappointed with the Gossip’s latest album, Music for Men.
Intriguing you say that about the Gossip, because I felt like that the first time I listened to it, too. I loved a couple of tracks, but felt nothing for the rest. I forced myself to listen to it again and since then, I’ve hardly listened to anything else. I love it now.
That’s exactly the same way that I felt about the La Roux album, that being said, there have been way too many awesome albums released in a few short weeks/months: Little Boots, Mika Miko, Peaches, The Most Serene Republic, Alexisonfire, Regina Spektor, Passion Pit, Metric, Miike Snow, to name just a few.
Admittedly, I haven’t really had the time to get into Music for Men because of the aforementioned deluge of solid albums. I don’t think it’s the worst album ever or anything of that sort, far from it. There are just so many more albums that I loved at first listen.
I’m learning to love it, I’m just not fully there yet.
