Brightkite’s comeback gambit : own “check in” by combining them all into one app.
I’ve been using it for a while, and while I enjoy the simplicity there are a few drawbacks, most notably that the site is slow as molasses to load. I really wish they had an app option.
Also, it only really works if you live in a location where the majority of the venues you’d be frequenting are already in the system, since you can’t add them using the app.
I’ve never managed to get the search function to work correctly, it’s hit or miss and results vary even if you’re inputting the same data.
The foursquare portion of the app works fairly well, and even brings up a bit of info on your checkin: number of stops, who the current mayor is, etc. Wish the gowalla part would do the same, especially with regards to item popups.
